Some say to perform “true country music” you need to have something special in your bones. In Cody Lawson’s life, that’s all he’s ever known. Cody was raised in the small rural town of Weimar, Texas. “It was a fun place to grow up,” remarks Cody, “it’s in the middle of nowhere on Interstate 10, but halfway to everywhere. If you blink while driving you literally would miss our one gas station. It was great.”
When not fishing, hunting, riding horses, or playing sports, Cody spent his summers with his Grandpa working the family farm & ranch in deep east Texas. It was those hot, sweltering summers of baling hay, fixing tractors, and working cows that laid the foundation for his “old school” work ethic. “My Grandpa played a pretty big part of shaping me into the person I am today. He taught me the value of a hard days work, and that you should always put God and your family first. I can still hear us singing along to his old George Jones cassettes while trolling through the hay fields in his truck.”
